Glaucoma Services

Glaucoma is often called the “silent thief of sight” as it causes irreversible damage to the optic nerve, usually due to raised intraocular pressure. In some cases, it may occur even with normal or low pressure.

Diagnosis includes comprehensive eye examination, intraocular pressure measurement, visual field testing, and optic nerve imaging.

Risk factors include:

  • Age over 40 years
  • Family history of glaucoma
  • Prolonged steroid use
  • Diabetes and hypertension
  • High myopia
  • Raised intraocular pressure

Glaucoma can be managed with medications, laser procedures, or surgery depending on its type and stage.
